“Leading with Insight: Appreciative Leadership for Sustainable Team Wellness” – Audit Partnership Limited Team Leadership Workshop

Borderlands Leadership School successfully facilitated two cohorts of the Team Leadership Workshop for Audit Partnership Company, Nepal, held at the tranquil setting of Hotel View Bhrikuti, Godavari on August 6-7 & 14-15, 2025. Designed as a professional development initiative, the program aimed to build confident, mindful, and high-performing leaders through experiential learning, reflective practice, and collaborative challenges.

The workshop was led primarily by Borderlands Leadership School CEO and Course Director, Mr. Sudhan Lamsal, whose engaging facilitation style set a tone of inspiration and openness. He was supported by Ms. Sanu Maharjan and Ms. Ojaswi Rana, who provided vital assistance throughout the sessions, ensuring smooth coordination and participant engagement.

The workshop began with warm welcomes and energizing icebreakers that encouraged participants to step outside their comfort zones and embrace teamwork. Activities varied across the two cohorts: while the first group (Aug 6–7) engaged in Borderlands Clap, Hand Squeeze, Hula Hoop, Tarp Turn, Inward-Outward, Lap Sitting, and Giant Step, the second group (Aug 14–15) experienced Hand Squeeze, Hula Hoop, Comfort Zone, Tarp Turn, Inward-Outward, Magic Carpet, and Magic Stick. These dynamic activities built trust, team collaboration, promoted laughter, and created a spirit of openness that carried through the sessions.

Over the course of two days, participants explored the concept of the Inner Compass, reflecting on questions such as “Are my personal goals aligned with my team and company?” Sessions on Emotional Intelligence guided participants through self-assessments, stress mapping, and time management techniques. Visualization exercises encouraged participants to revisit early experiences and imagine their aspirations, reinforcing the idea that leadership growth comes through awareness and reflection.

A significant highlight was scenario-based learning, where teams were presented with real-life workplace challenges. Scenarios included adapting to new software, addressing interpersonal conflicts, preventing burnout, and resolving role confusion. Participants collaboratively designed solutions, emphasizing mentoring, communication, accountability, and flexible work approaches. These activities allowed teams to connect theory with practical leadership applications.

Day two emphasized Appreciative Inquiry (AI) and the 4-D Cycle: Discover, Dream, Design, and Destiny. Through Positive Core Mapping worksheets and group storytelling, participants identified their teams’ strengths and envisioned future possibilities. Group discussions encouraged them to explore past challenges, present issues, and future opportunities, reinforcing the value of a strength-based approach to leadership.

Throughout both cohorts, participants reflected deeply on qualities such as empathy, communication, resilience, and collaboration. Stress management practices, SMART goal-setting, and performance management discussions highlighted the importance of creating a supportive and productive work culture. The mix of indoor reflections and outdoor experiential learning allowed participants to connect leadership concepts with lived practice.

The workshops concluded with closing reflections and the symbolic Giant Step activity, where participants collectively took a leap toward shared goals. Certificates of participation were distributed, recognizing their commitment to leadership development. Energized and inspired, participants left with renewed confidence, stronger alignment, and actionable strategies to apply within their professional environments.
