“Leading with Heart and Strength: Transforming Schools through Emotional & Appreciative Leadership” – PABSOK Team Building Program

On June 6, 2025, Borderlands Leadership School successfully facilitated a one-day transformative workshop for school leaders under the theme “Leading with Heart and Strength: Transforming Schools through Emotional & Appreciative Leadership.” Held at the scenic Sunkoshi Beach Resort and Organic Farm, the workshop brought together 22 passionate educators and change-makers committed to reshaping school leadership through empathy, collaboration, and vision.

The day began with an early morning Meet and Greet at Manaslu World School, followed by a peaceful journey from the city to the serene riverside venue at Sunkoshi Beach Resort and Organic Farm. With breakfast fueling their energy, participants dove into a series of ice breakers and group warm-up activities, designed to set the tone for the day, break down communication barriers, and foster trust and connection.

From exploring the value of team identity and shared goals to stepping out of their comfort zones, participants engaged in laughter-filled exercises that helped open channels for deeper communication and feedback.

The workshop’s core sessions focused on developing Appreciative Leadership and understanding Emotional Intelligence in School Leadership. These sessions offered practical tools and insights into leading with compassion and building emotionally aware educational environments—skills essential for today’s school leaders.

After a nourishing lunch, the afternoon was devoted to Integration and Action Planning along with three problem solving activities, where participants displayed enthusiasm, curiosity and resilience, including many emerging as natural leaders, taking initiative in group discussions and problem-solving tasks. The program helped participants reflect on their learning and translate insights into actionable strategies for their own institutions.

The energy remained high during the Team Building and Problem-Solving Challenge, where participants worked in smaller teams to overcome creative challenges based on the principles of experiential learning. These activities emphasized team roles, shared vision, trust, decision-making, and collaboration—key attributes of strong educational leadership.

The day concluded with a heartfelt reflection and closing session, along with a final wrap-up activity that brought the group together one last time, including certificate distribution, tokens of appreciation, and the symbolic signing of the program banner. Participants left not just with new leadership tools, but with stronger bonds and a renewed commitment to fostering positive change in their schools.

With over 22 engaged participants and a purpose-driven agenda, the program proved to be a powerful catalyst for transformational leadership rooted in empathy, appreciation, and teamwork.
